In April 2022, the German Biogas Association (GBA) started under the biogas partnership project a training course for the partnership team.
The course was attended by UNBA board members Harry Oryema Langalanga, Gilbert Byamugisha, Edward Byamukama, David Okwii, Proscovia Sebunya and Esther Senene, as well as KVP team, Sarah Ruedenauer and Hope Turyasingura.
Under the guidance of Frank Hofmann from GBA, a total of 10 training sessions took place between April 2022 and January 2023.
The participants from Uganda met at UNBA office and jointly followed the online presentation done from Germany with great interest. For those, who were not able to come to the office, online access was possible.
The topics of the trainings focused on industrial and commercial biogas plants and started with basics of biogas technology, evolving over time to economic aspects of biogas and plant design, construction, and operation. The topics of safety and biogas upgrading were particularly interesting for the Ugandan context. When the final training on sustainability of biogas was over everybody was very thankful for the great chance to learn about biogas technologies all over the world.
The team learnt a lot during the training and they will be able to transfer that knowledge to the biogas sector in Uganda.
In conclusion, the biogas training sessions were a great success, with a good exchange of questions and answers and positive feedback from the team, who are eagerly awaiting more biogas training sessions in the future.
